Frankfurt am Main/Berlin, 08.02.2023. The oldest and most prestigious award for start-ups in the HR sector - the HR Start-up Award - is entering the application phase and thus the 8th award season. Companies that are not older than five years and offer tools and services that make life and work easier for HR managers and employees are invited to apply. The deadline for applications is April 02, 2023.

One prize, many winners - the HR Start-up Award 2023

As every year, all submissions can look forward to the full attention of the top-class, nine-member jury - including HR executives, managers and investors from Bosch, BP, Meta, Siemens and STIHL, among others. This year, for the first time, the start-ups that are selected by the jury as one of the top ten applicants will receive a certificate that identifies them as a "Top 10 HR Start-up 2023" and can be used as a convincing illustration in pitch decks.

The top 3 start-ups will be invited to pitch live at the PMK (dt. Personalmanagementkongress; en. HR Management Congress) in Berlin, June 22 and 23, 2023, giving them maximum exposure and networking opportunities among their direct target audience. They will also have the opportunity to receive business coaching from one of the jury members. The winners of the award will receive an advertising budget for high-reach HR media worth 5,000 euros.

This year, for the first time, all start-ups also have the option to indicate in their application whether capital or investment is required, so that the jury or individual jury members can forward the documents to VCs and business angels interested in HR Tech, regardless of the overall ranking.

The HR Start-up Award Jury and Audience Award

Another new feature is the separation of the jury and audience awards. The jury will select the start-ups in advance, which will pitch for the favor of the audience at the HR Management Congress (PMK) in Berlin. In addition, it will select a start-up in advance that will receive the jury prize. However, this will only be announced after the pitches and the awarding of the audience prize at the PMK.

Overall, the HR Start-up Award 2023 offers even more added value for applying start-ups with the updates made and also goes a step further in its self-image as a promotion and networking platform between HR and founders, emphasizes co-initiator and jury chair Prof. Dr. Elke Eller: "The HR Startup Award is more than just a prize: we are a dialog platform. With the updates made, we bring founders, HR professionals and potential investors closer together and thus support the young HR tech scene," says Professor Eller.

"With a total number of applicants of more than 210 start-ups in the award history, the HR Start-up Award reaches a large part of the founders in HR. With the improvements we have made, we would like to give all applicants even more recognition, appreciation and concrete support, as their solutions are truly increasingly convincing, even across the board. The selection of a winner alone is no longer enough," states hkp// group Managing Partner and start-up investor Michael H. Kramarsch, who chairs the jury with Prof. Dr. Eller and established the award with her in 2016.

The President of the German Association of HR Managers (BPM), Inga Dransfeld-Haase, also welcomes the next step of the award: "The fact that HR-Tech will play a special role at PMK 2023 is also the result of the sensational development of the HR Start-up Award as well as the traceability of the rapidly increased professionalism of start-ups in HR made possible by it. They deserve even more visibility - and we are honoring this with a dedicated HR Innovation strand at this year's PMK," promises Dransfeld-Haase.
